Love Shines Through the Rain: A Spring Wedding at Garey House
April in Central Texas can be absolutely beautiful, but it can also bring plenty of rain. For Brian and Kim's wedding day on April 18th at Garey House, the forecast held true to the pattern we had seen all month. While the weather may not have cooperated with their original plans, this sweet couple embraced every change with grace, making their wedding day joyful, stress-free, and unforgettable.
Brian and Kim had originally planned to exchange vows outside on the Terrace overlooking the beautiful grounds at Garey House. However, as the rain continued throughout the day, we made the decision to move the ceremony indoors to the Hall. While this created a reception flip later in the evening, having a well-prepared Plan B made all the difference.
One of the best decisions we made was holding a day-before rehearsal. Since we already knew the weather might be an issue, we rehearsed indoors using our backup ceremony layout. This allowed everyone to feel comfortable and confident with the revised plan, eliminating any uncertainty on the wedding day. After rehearsal, the wedding party continued getting ready while our team transformed the Hall. Reception tables were beautifully set behind pipe and drape, hidden from guests until after the ceremony. Having those details completed ahead of time helped everything run smoothly despite the weather challenges.
One of the most special moments of the day came when the rain briefly stopped. Brian and Kim took advantage of the break in the weather to share their first look and capture some beautiful portraits together before the ceremony. Those quiet moments gave them a chance to slow down, connect, and enjoy the excitement of finally becoming husband and wife.
As guests arrived, they were welcomed into an elegant indoor ceremony space centered around the Hall's beautiful fireplace. Two white columns topped with floral arrangements framed the ceremony backdrop perfectly, creating a simple yet romantic setting.
The wedding party looked stunning. The bridesmaids wore light blue dresses, each in a different style that reflected their individual personalities while still creating a cohesive look. The groomsmen looked classic and sophisticated in black suits. Soft, organic floral designs featuring pastel spring colors added the perfect seasonal touch, bringing warmth and color to the indoor space.
Most importantly, Brian and Kim never let the weather dampen their spirits. They embraced every change with positivity and focused on what truly mattered, celebrating their marriage surrounded by the people they love. During the ceremony, they even shared a special moment when they locked up their personal letters to each other in the cutest wooden book which was then locked and ready for them to read next year.
Following the ceremony, guests moved into the Grand Room for cocktail hour. During breaks in the rain, many guests ventured outside to enjoy the fresh air and beautiful grounds. Meanwhile, the wedding party took formal photos in front of the fireplace before Brian and Kim slipped away for a few additional portraits together.
Once cocktail hour concluded, guests returned to the Hall, which had been completely transformed for the reception. The reveal was well worth the effort of the room flip, creating an inviting atmosphere for an evening full of celebration.
The reception began with the couple's first dance, followed by a delicious buffet dinner. Before the festivities continued, Brian shared a heartfelt toast thanking everyone for being part of their special day. It was a reflection of who these two are—kind, grateful, and deeply appreciative of the people who support them.
After dinner came cake cutting and another unexpected gift from the weather. During a brief pause in the rain, Brian and Kim stepped outside for sunset portraits. The moody skies, soft light, and lingering mist created some truly breathtaking photographs that only a rainy wedding day can provide.
As evening settled in, the couple shared their parent dances before officially opening the dance floor. From that moment on, the energy never slowed down. Guests filled the floor all night long, and light-up flower crowns made for some incredibly fun and memorable dance photos.
The evening concluded with one final intimate moment—a private last dance for the newlyweds. After soaking in the final moments of their wedding day together, Brian and Kim exited through an epic bubble send-off surrounded by cheering family and friends.
Rain may have changed the location of the ceremony, but it never changed the spirit of the day. Brian and Kim's wedding was a beautiful reminder that the most memorable celebrations aren't about perfect weather—they're about love, flexibility, and the people who gather to celebrate alongside you. I am so grateful I had the opportunity to coordinate this incredible wedding and help such a sweet and special couple begin their next chapter together. Congratulations, Brian and Kim!
