A Rainy March Wedding Full of Love, Culture, and Personal Touches

March weddings are always beautiful in Texas, but this particular wedding arrived at the beginning of one of the rainiest wedding seasons we've seen in quite some time. While the couple originally envisioned exchanging vows on the picturesque outdoor terrace at Garey House, Mother Nature had other plans. With rain falling throughout most of the day, the ceremony was moved indoors to the Hall. As it turned out, the change of plans created an incredibly intimate atmosphere that perfectly reflected the couple's vision: simple, traditional, meaningful, and completely centered on the two of them.

The bride looked stunning in a classic lace wedding gown, while the groom wore a sharp white suit. Both completed their wedding-day looks with gorgeous white boots, adding a unique touch to their traditional attire. The indoor ceremony space was transformed into a warm and elegant setting. Large floral installations framed the fireplace, with a stunning mantel arrangement on the upper left and a lush ground arrangement on the lower right. Among the florals sat two very special dolls displayed on the fireplace mantel. These cherished dolls held deep personal significance for the couple and brought so much personality into the ceremony design. Their presence served as a beautiful reminder that this celebration was truly about the couple, their story, and the life they were beginning together. The florals throughout the ceremony featured a joyful mix of white blooms accented with colorful flowers, creating a bright and cheerful atmosphere despite the storm outside.

One of the most meaningful moments of the ceremony was the incorporation of cultural traditions. The couple presented wooden geese as part of a special cultural custom, adding another deeply personal element to their wedding day. Guests were also treated to a beautiful musical processional performed by a violinist and pianist, who played the couple's favorite acoustic song from a beloved video game.

The processional itself was intimate and family-focused. The groom entered with his parents, followed by his siblings. The bride's siblings then made their way down the aisle before she entered with her parents. Their wedding party consisted solely of siblings, making the ceremony feel even more personal and centered around family.

Following the ceremony, the newlyweds and their families gathered at the front of Garey House for a few treasured portraits. Just as they got in a few special photos, the rain returned with even greater intensity. While a storm raged outside, the atmosphere indoors remained full of joy, warmth, and love. Additional family photos were completed inside by the fireplace before guests made their way into the Grand Room for cocktail hour. During this time, the catering and venue teams worked together to flip the ceremony space into an inviting reception setting.

The reception design featured a combination of rectangular and round tables, creating an intimate layout that encouraged conversation and connection. The sweetheart table was positioned in front of the fireplace and beautifully accented by the same ground floral arrangement that had framed the ceremony earlier in the day. White floral centerpieces with soft pops of seafoam green added an elegant touch throughout the room. During cocktail hour, guests enjoyed delicious appetizers and one of the most talked-about elements of the evening, a boba tea bar. As this was a dry wedding, the specialty boba tea offerings were a fun and memorable alternative that guests absolutely loved. While guests mingled, the couple changed into traditional cultural attire. The bride wore a beautiful red Chinese dress, while the groom changed into a blue Korean outfit. In a perfect blend of cultures and Texas charm, both also swapped their white wedding boots for matching brown cowboy boots.

When it was time to enter the reception, the newlyweds were introduced wearing their special attire, honoring another meaningful cultural tradition. It was one more example of how thoughtfully they incorporated their heritage and personalities throughout every part of the celebration. Texas made another appearance during dinner, where guests enjoyed a delicious barbecue meal that quickly became a crowd favorite. After dinner and toasts, the couple gathered around their beautiful three-tier wedding cake. The ombré design featured shades of white and seafoam green and was accented with fresh florals that tied perfectly into the overall décor. The boba tea cart remained open throughout the evening, giving guests the opportunity to enjoy their favorite flavors while celebrating on the dance floor. The reception was filled with memorable moments, from formal dances to open dancing and even a few surprise singing performances from family members. Every part of the evening reflected the love and support surrounding the couple.

As the night came to a close, the rain finally gave them one last gift. The storm paused just long enough for the newlyweds to enjoy a grand exit in front of Garey House, creating the perfect ending to an unforgettable day.

This wedding was a true reminder that while not every wedding day goes exactly according to plan, the most meaningful celebrations are those that focus on what matters most. Despite the rain, every detail reflected the couple's story, traditions, personalities, and love for one another.
